New Look to Natural Awakenings!

You might notice a new look to our June issue! We're excited to be working with Publication Printers, and love the higher print quality to the magazine. We've even joined a great new program called PrintReleaf, which empowers businesses to certifiably reduce the environmental impact of using paper products by automatically planting trees across a global network of reforestation projects.

PrintReleaf measures our paper consumption over time, calculates how many trees were deforested to harvest our paper footprint, and automatically reforests at reforestation projects of our choice. Watch Natural Awakenings' coming issues for more details. As of July's issue, we have planted 47.5 trees in the forests of Madagascar.

Due dates for the following issues:
July 5 for articles in the August issue; July 10 for ad commitments, calendars and news
Aug 5 for articles in the September issue; Aug 10 for ad commitmetns, calendars and news
Sept 5 for articles in the October issues; Sept 10 for ad commitments, calendars and news

REAL NEWS THAT MATTERS: Independent Media Tell Us the Truth
In virtually all aspects of life, we are influenced consciously or subconsciously by mainstream media messages. Today, six media giants—Comcast, The Walt Disney Company, Twenty-First Century Fox, Time Warner, Viacom and DirecTV—control the vast majority of what we watch on TV and in movies, listen to on the radio and read in books, newspapers and magazines. According to Ben Bagdikian, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author of The New Media Monopoly, this handful of conglomerates form a cartel that wields enough influence to affect U.S. politics and define social values.

Liza Huber on Healthy Meals and Happy Kids:
Start with Homemade, Organic Baby Food

For many actresses, landing a role on the hit show Passions would be a career highlight. For Liza Huber, daughter of soap opera icon Susan Lucci, a successful acting career was one step en route to her calling as a mother, public speaker and entrepreneur. Her inspiration was to launch Sage Spoonfuls to make it easier for parents to make homemade, organic food for their little ones. It’s all about enabling parents to provide a legacy of health, all wrapped up in love.

COOL CHOW: Icy Treats for Hot Summer Days
In 2015, manufacturers of commercial dog and cat foods and treats issued 28 recalls... In response, homemade treats have grown in popularity to ensure that pets enjoy safe and healthy snacks.

“Natural Awakenings magazine is the only advertising I use for my practice other than word of mouth referrals and it has brought us new patients consistently especially now that we advertise monthly. The quality of the leads is great and we really enjoy helping the holistic minded patient. Terry is great to work with and truly wants to see the business succeed. We plan on always advertising with Natural Awakenings and expanding our presence in the magazine. I highly recommend this publication.”
