Did you notice the change to our cover this month?
Right above the name Natural Awakenings is our new rallying cry: Health, Hope & Happiness.

We feel that these things are crucial in today’s stressed-out, over-opinionated world. Most media bombard us with angry rhetoric and hope-crushing updates on global warming and the latest Executive Order assaulting our environment. While Health will always be our bedrock, look for more editorial focus on Hope and Happiness in Terry’s Happiness Corner and throughout
the magazine. Send us your article on Hope or Happiness! Let’s ask ourselves “What is Possible?” while we focus on the highest good for all beings including the mother to us all, Mother Earth.

We are also making other creative additions: This Summer will feature our new Plant-Based Medicine section, with educational articles on herbs and roots used as medicine; highlights of beneficial medicinal marijuana strains; and spotlights of local plant-based businesses, practitioners and entrepreneurs.

This month’s Women’s Wellness issue arrives with spring in the air and “Her Soul in Bloom: Self-Care for All Stages of Life” on page 16, Marlaina Donato’s blissful feature on the importance of me-time with excellent sidebars by local advertisers Michel Barta of Peace Bridge Reiki, and Margaret Rosenau from the School of Inner Health.

We love Christiane Northrup’s inspirational article for Mother’s Day, “The Mother Our Souls Need” on page 19. Both women and men will be encouraged by Randy Kambic’s interview with “Peter Sagal on Running Toward Mindfulness” on page 24. The popular National Public Radio host talks about healing a wounded psyche by unplugging and embracing the natural world --
and you don’t have to run a marathon to do it.

Lastly, “When Emotions Are Physical” on page 20 explores bodywork for trauma and grief, and Kim Farrington, Certified Clinical Aromatherapist, explains in her sidebar which essential oils are good for self-care. You’ll be intrigued by the article on circumcision on page 23, which is an eye-opener.

We wish all a Happy Mother’s Day; enjoy the spring beauty!
